COMMUNITY OUTREACH
DEMTA has a long tradition of community connections, the pandemic has been a significant challenge. One of the most successful activities was virtual recitals. Students made videos of themselves performing their pieces and sent them to one of the teachers who then put the videos together to make a recital which was shared with several nursing and assisted living homes in the area. This was developed several times and was greatly enjoyed by all.
With the pandemic requirements relaxing it has been possible to return in-person to these homes. We are looking forward to returning next year to our regular schedule of performing at least once a month in our communities. These generally include assisted living, libraries, our local nursery and other venues.
DEMTA has also talked about connecting with the local art community and possibly providing music for art show openings and other activities. Community outreach is such a great opportunity for students to perform and share their gifts with the community around them. This is a strong focus to continue to provide these opportunities for the students.
